another list!

So the pros and cons of pregnancy for my gal pal jenSmile
Now should I start with the cons or the pros.  I like to look on the bright side so I am leaning toward pros first…but I would hate for you to read the pros, forget them and then think there are only cons.  that’s it, cons first.  get excited:
  1. Every woman who has ever given birth, met someone who has given birth or was birthed themselves has traumatic, scary stories to share with you when you are pregnant.  We aren’t just talking like labor hurt….we are talking broken bones, 422 hours of labor, getting very personal with nurses, pooping (if you don’t know, don’t ask, trust me you don’t want to know)…literally any terrifying thing you could think of  would never even nightmare about because the are so far fetched.
  2. The gas.  I know that is super gross.  I hate to mention it but I am 100% sure if I didn’t mention it the first comment would be from Trent sharing my deep, dark, smelly secret.  Not sure why almond butter or toast or crackers would give a normal human gas, but here we are.  GROSS.
  3. Making the darn uhhh noise like I am a 65 year old man as I get up from the couch or up in the middle of the night to urinate (while it’s not convenient to go every 2 minutes it’s not annoying enough to make the list)
  4. The lovely comments like “boy your hips are getting wide” “are you sure you aren’t having twins?” “she is blossoming”  ok that last one I know everyone thinks that is some term of endearment but I think it makes it sound like I just got boobs. While yes, they are MUCH bigger, I did hit puberty in 8th grade…not when I was 28.
  5. The crying…it has gotten pretty darn bad.
  6. I almost forgot…pregnancy brain.  It is real, it is debilitating at times, it is not fun. Paid our water bill 3 times last month.
The prosSmile
  1. There is a human growing inside of me!  That is something that just BLOWS my mind.
  2. I am just now starting to have kicks and swimming more consistently.  It is the best feeling in the whole world.  A constant sign that our sweet baby is growing and healthy.  It is so good for my heart.
  3. No one gives you weird looks when you eat 5 cookies in one sitting.  Although prior to the bump, I just ignored their nasty looks, but now they keep those looks to themselves and say things like “you have an excuse, have another cookie”  OK!
  4. Such fun projects to prepare for our babySmile
  5. Seeing glimpses of my amazing husband as a daddy.  I love hearing him talk about what all he is going to do with the baby.  The plans for their adventures, what he plans to teach baby, the way he talks to the bump. Be still my heart.
  6. Also from Trent, it would be so hard if he wasn’t supportive of this pregnancy but he is never failing with support with my crying, the ups and downs, my growing bump.  I am forever grateful.
  7. I love that we are making Trent’s parents grandparents and his brothers uncles.  It is awesome that for my family this isn’t the first grandbaby, but it is still just as awesome for them.  I love the excitement we get from our families and friends.  It makes it so fun!!!
  8. Pregnancy means I get to be a mommy and I am so thankful God has trusted me to be this baby’s mom.  I am going to do my very best to not mess up!
Hope my pros outweighed my cons to you, because for me, the pro side is wayyyyyyyy heavier than the cons.
xoxo
