:(

So my little family suffered a sad loss this past week.  We said goodbye to my husband's wonderful grandfather.  He was a hilarious, caring, loving man and will be missed by countless people.  He taught Trent so many great things and was so supportive of everything he and his brothers and cousins did.  I was blessed to know him for 2 years and I must say, from the moment I met him I was family.  He was just that kind of guy.  Pardon the short post and lack of posts last week....just spending lots of time with Trent.  So our snapshot for this week is somber but grateful for a life well lived.

THE PHOTOS WILL BE HERE SOOON!!!! yes I was yelling

Source
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!  The lovely Melissa Keith, our amazing photographer, emailed me that she will be sending me the disc with our photos the end of this week.  It is Friday, so I can hope with my fingers crossed so very tightly that means we will have them Tuesday!!  So get ready for lots and lots of wedding posts!!!  She did preview some more photos on facebook today!!!  I am sooo ready to see the rest of these beauties! ^^^^^^^^^can you tell this was the happiest day ever?  I tried to hold back (hope you could tell the sarcasm in that)

Also this weekend is a big girls day to an adorable apple orchard!!!  Get excited.  Also on the agenda, I must work on our thank you notes!  I write, Trent stamps and seals.  We have the greatest friends and family (sorry if you thought your friends and family were the best, you were mistaken) and they need to know how much we appreciate them.
Hope you have a great weekend planned:)

So we did something crazy....

Last week we watched the most fascinating movie.  I am all about the documentaries but Trent is not so much. So on top of the fact we were watching a documentary, (did I mention it was a FOOD documentary?? I love learning about food)  we FINALLY got our wireless router to work so we now have instant NetFlix (best invention ever, right?!)  Have I lost you yet?!  Stick around, things are about to get VERY interesting...so the documentary was...Fat Sick and Nearly Dead.  Talk about fascinating!!  The basic premise is that the guy is overweight, some may say fat (as in the title:)) and he starts a juice fast.  He does this for 60 days.  60 DAYS!!!!  Good Golly Miss Molly! <-my sweet nephew says that.
SPOILER ALERT**  He ends up losing a ton of weight, feels a million times better, gains a new perspective and looks amazing.

So my lovely husband was ready to start!  I, of course, agreed because I love activities and we immediately started planning.  We began our quest on Monday.  10 days was our goal. The first day was ok...not super bad but not super great. On Sunday we made juice for breakfast, lunch, a snack and dinner. Monday night we made our juice for Tuesday.  It was not as exciting as Sunday and became quite obvious that we did not have the same energy we did Sunday.  Jen (the bff) came over Monday (to watch the Kim Kardashian (or is she now Humphries?) wedding. Duh.)  and was convinced I had been drinking because I was so ridiculous.  Tuesday arrived and we spent a major portion of the day, dreaming about pasta, cake, pizza...I even was daydreaming about eating marshmallows.  EVERYTHING sounded good.  We watched movies and went to bed around 9.  It was a delight.  Please note the sarcasm.  Wednesday arrived and we did our juice, daydreamed, were Grumpy Gertrudes and then....we hit the wall.  Trent had lost over 5 pounds, his wedding band was too big for his middle finger and I was a walking skeleton...we both felt terrible.  We determined when we were too exhausted to get out of the car at Meijer that we were in fact not cut out for starvation.  We then went in the store and wandered around aimlessly because we were so hungry (and had no brainpower left) but couldn't decide what to buy to eat...we are ridiculous...always.  So what did we learn?

Things I noticed from being so food deprived.
1.  I seemed like I was drunk.  Blurred vision, no memory, laughing at pretty much nothing.
2.  Headaches.
3.  I get very grumpy when hungry, yes I already knew this but goodness did it become prevalent the past 3 days.
4.  I could not remember anything (left my house keys in the backdoor last night, safe huh?)
5.  Zero energy.

The positives, because in everything there are positives.
1.  We bonded over our intense hunger.  Constantly texting about when we finally ate again, what would be on the menu.
2.  We worked together, juicing and cleaning up.  It was great!
3.  We are great at encouraging each other and this was a good opportunity to practice...lots of practice.

I am sure there was a better way to do this, we however will NEVER try this again.  Mark that off the ol' bucket list!

Sadly I did not document this part of our journey...so the snapshot is a mental one.  Hope you were able to capture it :)

our day:)...or at least part of it

So I want to be able to remember as much about the wedding as humanly possible soooo expect LOTS of wedding posts.  Especially as the professional photos come in....The planning for our big day was only 4 months long.  We didn't want a long engagement because we I would've just kept adding and adding.  We didn't want to lose sight of what the day was about.  We also knew we didn't want it to be stuffy and boring, we wanted it to be fun and quirky, just like us....as you can see ;)

In our planning we wanted to have as many small touches as possible.  Which included a bunting banner and napkins made of old fabric that was my mom's and grandma's.  We (we being my mom, sisters and I, not Trent and I) will then make a wedding quilt.  I wanted our day to be as eco friendly as humanly possible!
So we used vintage bottles, vases and books for centerpieces.  This was a. cheap and b. made a lovely looking table in my humble opinion c. allowed us to use items that our parents, grandparents and friends had collected over the years.

We also have some very talented, creative people in our lives that helped make this day perfect!  Some of these great touches included some amazing work from my best pal, Jen.  Cute, right?!  She does some amazing amazing work, which you will get to see often!

We did thumbprint trees in summer and fall and they turned out perfect!  Big thanks to Killey, my sister.  She did a great job making my vision come to life:)

More to come on how it all came together and the greatness that was our day.  Hope you enjoy weddings, or this was not very enjoyable.

Day 1...or 13 either way:)

We have been married for 13 days.   Pretty darn excited for so many more days, months, years, decades.  So why start this blog?  Why does the world need another blog?  Who cares? Well I love this life I am living.  I am so blessed with a wonderful family and such amazing friends.  Heck, if no one ever reads this, at least I will have this to look back on.  A portrait of life at any given moment.  This marriage is the start of a new chapter so it seems like a good point to begin fully documenting it.

So at this point in my life, this snapshot, I have married a HILARIOUS wonderful man who makes me laugh more than anyone I have ever met.  He is protective and fascinating and you never know what he is going to say or do next.  I am lucky.  We have a quirky chocolate lab who has more personality than most humans.  He and Trent are BFFs for sure.  I just happen to live here with them.  My besties are so fantastic lovely people who are for sure documented.  We make lists for all seasons and we always intend to mark everything off the list...not sure that has ever happened, but we sure try.  We also have a darn good time even doing nothing and I am sure that most of the world either envies our friendship or hates it.  Either way it doesn't matter, I love it and am so thankful.  Lastly in the introductions (to quite possibly myself, if I am the only reader ever) is Trent and I's family.  We both come from "large" families.  He has 2 brothers, I have 2 sisters and a brother.  We have LOTS of family time, and we wouldn't have it any other way.  So they are in turn well documented as well.

As for myself, I am a quirky gal with so many interests.  I love so many things and that list just keeps growing and growing.  I love being outside, gardening, kayaking, hiking...really so many things.  I also love reading, sewing, crafting, watching movies....the list goes on and on.

So there is our snapshot for October 6th, 2011.  Oh and here is a snaphot of our big day, because I know you want to see:)

xoxo

yep, that's my guy:)  I didn't mention he was a looker, did I?  Well, now I don't have to!
